Lady Like

The Lady like look is back gracing fashion store shelves, Drawing influence from major fashion icons such as Michelle Obama. With a contemporary edge this elegant look has been brought back with stylish, elegant and flattering styles.

Fringed Christian Dior Dress
So you want to create this look? Focus on the 40's era, pick garments that accentuate the hour glass figure, hem lines that sit just below the knee. Throw in a sassy pair of peep toes and your on your way.

Accessories are the key to keeping this look current. Try layered necklaces or a bold print scarf tied around your neck, or a chunky ring. Just remember not to over accessorise.

Hand bags need not match your shoes, however a bold coloured bag with a plain oufit can really make your look pop.

RIMMEL London Lycra Pro nail polish

I've tested out Rimmels Lycra Pro nail polish. The colour of my choice was 319 Ruby Me.

Rimmel have designed a new Maxi brush for a mistake free application. The brush was a little odd to use first off but after a couple of strokes the wider brush wasn't so bad. If you are wanting to use this polish for half moon nails, i'd think again. the wider brush would only suit a full coloured nail. It did how ever do what it said and leave a nice, stroke free finish.

Drying time was also quite good. It only took a few mintues and it was touch dry. This is really important for me with a busy family. The formula is suppose to last 10 days. So far im on Day 2 and there are no chips. I'm pretty hard on my nails and would expect a few chips by now.

I was a little disapointed with the solidness of the colour. For me its a little sheer. I ran over with 3 coats and it gave it a fairly descent cover but I can still see through it. The polish was also fairly matte compaired to its counter parts. So if you are after a more vintage matte finish, this is the polish for you. But a glossy top coat easily added some shine.

Overall I was pretty happy with it.

* Priceline have buy 3 for the price of 2 Rimmel products (see priceline for details)

There was a wide variety of pretty colours in the range. Check out Rimmels website for more colours

Update

Hi Dolls,

I've been a tad pre-occupied lately. My beautiful husband returned home from 6mths deployment in Afghanistan. So of course we've had a lot of catching up to do.

For all those that were asking about the phone cover/holder. They are available from Lee Rowan's Garden World at Warners Bay (Newcastle). They were available in a range of colours, shapes and sizes. Prices started from $15.95.

I'm going to do a review shortly on Rimmel's Pro finish, It has a wide brush to make it mistake free and has a a better fomula. So let's see hopw that goes

Update a borring Cardi & turn it into something GLAMOROUS**

Got a tired old borring cardi? Here's how you can turn into into something truely glamorous.

What you will needs:
  • 1 Cardi (colour of your choice)
  • Beads (colour and shape is completely up to you)
  • Thread (same colour as your cardi)
  • Beading needle
  • Sissors

How to:

Before you get stitching work out your design, draw it or tack it out with some bright coloured cotton. The design that I have used here is military inspired. I have used a long narrow bead and small round beads. But you can use what ever you fancy.

Straight stitch Diagram

Thread your needle and tie a knot in the bottom of the cotton to make sure that the thread doesnt pull right through

Using a straight stitch sew your beads one at a time carefully onto the fabric

Try not to show to much of the cotton thread on the top side of the fabric. You just want to show off the beads.

Tie off your thread firmly underneath when you are done.

Making your own is quiet simple as long as your comfortable with hand sewing. Remember to take your time.

Need some inspiration for design? Google "beading Ideas" there is quiet a few websites that have lots of ideas or just look around at typical clothing additions and mimic it as I have done. Perhaps you could stitch on swarovski crystals in a flower shape or even a lace pattern.
